Photolicious sexy12/27/2022 ![]() ![]() It was a lovely cleansing treat that could easily be a midday snack by itself. ![]() It was also surprisingly filling with the chopped eggs and potatoes. Meanwhile, the chilled cream cucumber soup was refreshing with the cucumber and olive oil. When I showed my boyfriend photos of my platter, he was instantly jealous and said he would have ordered a platter at Parked if spatzle was available. (Fun fact: did you know there are festivals dedicated to sauerkraut?) The spatzle’s egg noodles were rich with the butter and the small bits of caramelized onion supplied moments of sweetness without overpowering the natural flavor of the spatzle. The braised sauerkraut was fermented with the right amount of sour to it, making it a delicious and healthy side dish. The pesto mayo gave it a light flavor to go along with the schnitzel. The veal schnitzel was also golden perfection, just as tender and delightful as its chicken counterpart. The chicken schnitzel and spicy mayo was just as delicious as the one my boyfriend ordered on Saturday. I recruited my friend who also was a huge fan of their schnitzel from Parked and went with her for lunch. Schnitzel & Things are very organized with their locations for the week listed already on their blog, but it’s comforting to know there’s a specific location I can always find them. As I’ve said before, it’s fantastic having a food truck traveling to expose their food to different parts of the city, but the hunting and traveling to locations can be taxing. Fortunately, I remembered the business card my boyfriend had given to me from the Schnitzel & Things folk and saw they also had a store location on 723 3rd Ave. I was cruelly reminded of this as I checked my Twitter feed. It’s a well deserved day of rest after busy weekends. Of course, Monday is also when many food trucks decide to take a day off. On Monday, I vowed to find a food truck, otherwise the yearning would become unbearable. Even though I physically distanced myself from the food trucks, the cravings never left me. When we left, it was a relief to run away from the swarms of people. My friends and I lingered at the Parked festival a few more hours, partly to sample more food trucks and partly due to being bogged down by the increased pedestrian traffic.
